Maybe Karan Johar Deserves Some Rights

Controversial take, I know.  However, I do have some reasoning for my thinking. You see, I just recently (about 2 weeks ago) watched Mr. Johar's new movie Rocky Aur Rani and I didn't have my eyes bleached. A win!  This actually a huge deal because I've been having beef with Bollywood for about three years now due to their lack of good movies. They have a few gems but it's never consistent and we no longer get bangers from the soundtrack. I'm hoping Zoya Akhtar and Sanjay Leela Bansali won't do me wrong because I only have faith in them right now.  And in the middle of me having this mindset, in came Karan Johar with his movie and surprise, surprise it's actually good. I saw a few clips on Instagram and I wasn't sure but finally decided to check it out.  You have to understand that I'm saying this rather begrudgingly because I'm not a Karan Johar fan. I like his movies but he, the person, makes me want to destroy every coffee packet I see in the s...

Clue is Cinema

That is not an exaggeration and I stand by my words.  As everyone knows, it is currently spooky season and with Halloween coming up I wanted to start make more festive content. So, what's more festive than a murder mystery? Clue (1985) is a cinematic experience and did its fair share and then some more in making the murder mystery/detective genre as beloved as it was. It inspired and is referenced in other movies and shows of the same genre like Knives Out, The Haunting Of The Hill House and more. Though it wasn't well-received by critics at the time for its campy and outlandish nature, it later became a cult classic through way of DVD's and movie renting.  I know a lot of people might get a jumpscare from seeing the year 1985 but the movie is more well-done than most of the movies we get currently and there is color so age isn't really a concern here. Based of the boardgame of the same name, Clue is a crime-mystery following the story of six blackmail victims who are l...

The Most Romantic Movie Ever : The Notebook

It's time. Time to address the monster amongst, living in society not yet outed as the monstrosity it actually is. Now, that probably sounds very ominous. But if you've read any modern contemporary romance from about the early 2010's, this is right up your alley.  That's right. We're talking bout the big guy. Nicholas Sparks himself. If you don't know him, don't worry. I would never unleash that on another human being. Just know that he wrote a lot of romance books that were popular and got movie adaptions. The popular ones being 'Forever My Girl', 'A Walk To Remember' and the most well-known one, 'The Notebook'.  Now. Let's talk about The Notebook. For years, this movie was claimed to be 'the most romantic movie of all time'. And as I'm sure you'll agree, those are huge shoes to fill. Also, just in general, a very high sell for a movie to make. The problem was that that was a lie. It wasn't.  Let's start w...

Love At First Sight : A Review

First  thought after watching the trailer of the movie? It should’ve been named ‘Love At First Flight’ like, how do you miss that? But whatever. Love at first sight is a Netflix rom-com starring Haley Lu Richardson (Hadley) and Ben Hardy (Oliver) with Jameela Al Jamil as the narrator (and as a bunch of side characters). Now, the keyword in that sentence was Netflix because the streaming platform has a…questionable creative head when it comes to original movies so my expected were lowered to say the least.  For every good Netflix original like ‘Set It Up’ and ‘Do Revenge’ we get its karmic balance through movies like ‘The Princess Switch’ trilogy. And if I’m being honest, the movie was decent. Nothing revolutionary, just cozy and cute. The main characters do have their meet-cute in an airport which definitely made me suspend my belief because though its adorable to imagine, in reality strangers are still strangers. Chemistry though? They have it. Which is appreciated. You ...
